National Inter-Uniformed Group Bowling Championships

On the 1st of June 2012, 3 Venture Scouts and 10 Scouts took part in the 8th Inter-Uniformed Group Bowling Championships hosted by the National Police Cadet Corps unit of Hwa Chong Institution. As the defending champions 3 years running, we had a lot of pressure and high expectations to meet both our own and that of the organizer who had remembered us by then. We faced several problems along the way during the course of the day, such as the massive jam of the morning delaying some of our bowlers and arriving just in the nick of time for the roll-off.  However despite these difficulties, we were able to take part in the competition entirely focused on the goal. We were eventually able to bring all 3 of our teams into the finals the next week and 3 out of our 4 bowlers in the individual category winning awards.

On the day of the finals, we were prepared to give it our all, some of us arriving as much as an hour earlier to avoid being late due to the jam like last time. This round, the competition was stiffer than the last, with the bowling teams being narrowed down to the top 10 bowling from over 30 teams in the preliminary round competing in a spot for the finals. We were spurred on to give it our all, having friendly competitions within our teams to push ourselves to greater heights and scores, and we eventually emerged as the champions, with one team returning the championship trophy to the school. In all we clinched the 1st and 2nd place for the team event and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th position overall.

To God Be The Glory, The Best Is Yet ToBe!

Yours-In-Scouting,

ASPL Gabriel Tan Kai Yang
